Hashing
Functions in the Hashing category of the Studio fx menu compute digests and checksums for integrity checks,
forensics, and password hashing.
Start with the digests you use most often:
- SHA2 — SHA-2 family hashes (commonly SHA-256).
- SHA1 / MD5 — widely used fingerprints (legacy for security, still common for IOCs).
- HMAC — keyed message authentication code.
- Generate all hashes — compute many digests and checksums at once.
Common password and fuzzy hashing:
- Bcrypt / Bcrypt compare — hash and verify passwords.
- SSDEEP / Compare SSDEEP hashes — fuzzy similarity for related files.
- CRC-32 Checksum — fast error-detecting checksum.
Open a function page from the sidebar for parameters, returned values, and examples. The transform functions overview also summarizes this category.
