# Streebog

Streebog is a cryptographic hash function defined in the Russian national standard GOST R 34.11-2012 _Information Technology – Cryptographic Information Security – Hash Function_. It was created to replace an obsolete GOST hash function defined in the old standard GOST R 34.11-94, and as an asymmetric reply to SHA-3 competition by the US National Institute of Standards and Technology. Streebog lives in the **Hashing** category of the `fx` menu.

## Parameters

| Parameter | Type | Required | Default | Description |
| --------- | ------ | -------- | ------- | ------------------------------------------------------ |
| Input | string | yes | — | Value to transform. Previous step output or a literal. |
| Size | string | no | `256` | Choose one of: `256`, `512`. |

`Input` is the primary value (previous step output or a literal).

## Returned value

| Type | Description |
| -------- | -------------------------------------- |
| `string` | Result of the Streebog transformation. |

## Limitations

- This operation treats Input as raw bytes (binary-capable). Non-text payloads may display differently after decoding.

## Example

<summary>Run Streebog</summary>

Streebog is a cryptographic hash function defined in the Russian national standard GOST R 34.11-2012 _Information Technology – Cryptographic Information Security – Hash Function_. Adjust optional parameters when the defaults do not match your payload.

1. Set **Input** to the value to transform (previous step output or a literal).

2. Review **Size** and keep defaults unless your format requires otherwise.

3. Confirm **Output value** shows the transformed result.
