# BLAKE2s

Performs BLAKE2s hashing on the input. BLAKE2s is a flavour of the BLAKE cryptographic hash function that is optimized for 8- to 32-bit platforms and produces digests of any size between 1 and 32 bytes. BLAKE2s lives in the **Hashing** category of the `fx` menu.

## Parameters

| Parameter | Type | Required | Default | Description |
| --------------- | ------ | -------- | ------- | ------------------------------------------------------ |
| Input | string | yes | — | Value to transform. Previous step output or a literal. |
| Size | string | no | `256` | Choose one of: `256`, `160`, `128`. |
| Output Encoding | string | no | `Hex` | Choose one of: `Hex`, `Base64`, `Raw`. |
| Key | string | no | — | Argument value for this operation. |

`Input` is the primary value (previous step output or a literal).

## Returned value

| Type | Description |
| -------- | ------------------------------------- |
| `string` | Result of the BLAKE2s transformation. |

## Limitations

- This operation treats Input as raw bytes (binary-capable). Non-text payloads may display differently after decoding.
- Wrong key, algorithm options, or malformed input typically raises an evaluation error — fix Input or options before re-running.

## Example

<details>
<summary>Run BLAKE2s</summary>

Performs BLAKE2s hashing on the input. Adjust optional parameters when the defaults do not match your payload.

1. Set **Input** to the value to transform (previous step output or a literal).

2. Review **Size**, **Output Encoding**, **Key** and keep defaults unless your format requires otherwise.

3. Confirm **Output value** shows the transformed result.
