# ROT13

A simple caesar substitution cipher which rotates alphabet characters by the specified amount (default 13). ROT13 lives in the **Arithmetic** category of the `fx` menu. See [ROT13](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ROT13) for format details.

## Parameters

| Parameter | Type | Required | Default | Description |
| ----------------------- | ------- | -------- | ------- | ------------------------------------------------------ |
| Input | string | yes | — | Value to transform. Previous step output or a literal. |
| Rotate lower case chars | boolean | no | `true` | Enabled by default. |
| Rotate upper case chars | boolean | no | `true` | Enabled by default. |
| Rotate numbers | boolean | no | `false` | Disabled by default. |
| Amount | number | no | `13` | Numeric value. Default `13`. |

`Input` is the primary value (previous step output or a literal).

## Returned value

| Type | Description |
| -------- | ----------------------------------- |
| `string` | Result of the ROT13 transformation. |

## Limitations

- This operation treats Input as raw bytes (binary-capable). Non-text payloads may display differently after decoding.

## Example

<details>
<summary>Run ROT13</summary>

A simple caesar substitution cipher which rotates alphabet characters by the specified amount (default 13). Adjust optional parameters when the defaults do not match your payload.

1. Set **Input** to the value to transform (previous step output or a literal).

2. Review **Rotate lower case chars**, **Rotate upper case chars**, **Rotate numbers**, **Amount** and keep defaults unless your format requires otherwise.

3. Confirm **Output value** shows the transformed result.
